Road trip! (for cinnagene)

[As Kim sees it, Omaha is cold and dark and, for Jimmy, isolating, lonely and depressing. She's not typically one for road trips, but this is one she's been looking forward to. Not only does she get to spend it with Jimmy, she also hopefully gets to see him happy. It's always been what she's wanted for Jimmy. He's been through so much. Even though a lot of it was, admittedly, Jimmy's own fault, she wouldn't wish his situation on anybody, and definitely not him.

They've been driving all day, taking turns behind the wheel of Jimmy's car, and the sun is setting. Kim's at the wheel, looking at the time.]

We should probably find somewhere to stop for dinner.

[ He's sort of half-asleep at the moment, thinking and yet not focusing on any thought in particular, looking out at the world as it goes by.

He blinks and sits himself up when Kim speaks and smiles his agreement. ]

Yeah, sure.

[twoyearplan]

[She nods, looking at the billboards and the exit signs.]

So...we've got McDonald's...Cracker Barrel...Zaxby's? Chicken, looks like...

[cinnagene]

Ah, haute couture! [ He grins. ] Zaxby's maybe?

[twoyearplan]

Sounds good. I could definitely use something different.

[She takes the exit, follows the arrow and turns right, then leans forward a little as she drives, scanning the signs for one that says Zaxby's.]

Do you see it?

[cinnagene]

Hang on. [ He scans. ] Yeah, there.[ He points at the sign. ]

[twoyearplan]

Where...oh, I see it.

[She makes a left hand turn into the parking lot, parks the car and gets out. She takes a moment to stretch. They've been driving for hours and her muscles are sore.]

[cinnagene]

[ In a similar vein, Jimmy opens the car door without bothering to get out yet. Just letting the actual air in. ]

[twoyearplan]

[Once Kim has stretched and twisted her torso and shaken out her arms she leans down to talk to Jimmy through the door.]

You ready?

[cinnagene]

Yup. [ He gets out, closing the door behind him. ]

[twoyearplan]

[Kim grabs her purse and closes the door, locking the car. She pulls the purse strap up her shoulder as she walks toward the restaurant.]

I'm so tired. We should probably only drive for a couple more hours before we look for a hotel.

[cinnagene]

[ He nods. ] I can take the next shift if you like.

[twoyearplan]

Probably a good idea. I'm not going to say it's likely that I'll fall asleep at the wheel, but it's not unlikely, either.

[cinnagene]

It's only gonna be long enough to get a hotel, so sure.

[twoyearplan]

Great. I appreciate it.

[She gets to the door and pulls it open, stepping aside for Jimmy to enter first.]

[cinnagene]

[ He enters, scanning the place and the people before looking back at him, to see if she followed him in. ]

[twoyearplan]

[She's right behind him, surveying the place as well. It's a fast food place a little more sophisticated than McDonald's, and the clientele is obviously primarily travelers from the nearby highway, with a few families wrangling kids.

Kim moves toward the counter, looking up at the menu.]

They spell salad with a "z". Cute.

[cinnagene]

I am all for 'cute'. [ He is pondering going the good boy route or just having the fattiest thing on the menu and pig out. Could go either way. ]

[twoyearplan]

[Kim steps up and orders a cobb "zalad" and a soda, then turns toward Jimmy, raising her eyebrows in offer. She's brought a lot of cash so that she uses her credit card as little as possible and leaves as little of a paper trail as possible.]

[cinnagene]

[ Jimmy goes the salad route as well, better angels winning out and a drink. He's happy to combine the order, though he adds his own cash to the pot.

It's only a fast food restaurant anyway. ]

[twoyearplan]

[He doesn't have to, but Kim is happy to let him.

When their salads are ready she takes her tray and looks for a table, finding one in the back corner. She heads for it and slides into the booth.]

[cinnagene]

[ As much as he finds the idea of being a toy boy amusing, it's not quite that way with Kim, and he's not quite that financially strapped. Besides, Sugar Mamas don't really work when they also have a mountain of debt owed to the law firm they work at.

Back corner is a good idea and he's able to relax his back and smile at Kim. ]

So did ya cook up any particular plans while we were driving?

[twoyearplan]

You mean other than drinking in strip clubs on Bourbon Street and getting strings of beads by flashing my breasts?

[She lifts her eyebrows, her eyes sparkling with amusement.]

[cinnagene]

Yeah. I mean, I was going to do that. [ So this is embarrassing. ]

[twoyearplan]

Oh, that'll be good. You'll get tons of beads.

[She's teasing him, completely deadpan.]

[cinnagene]

[ His deadpan has an earnest air. ] You had better believe it.
